Vacation, Birthday Decisions and Value

As I mark this birthday, Jane Fonda’s words come to mind. She spoke of a pivotal birthday where she embraced the power of creating her ideal life. It was about shedding what didn’t align with her dreams and welcoming new experiences, habits, and people.

Similarly, as I’ve emphasized in my Career Coaching and Leadership Classes, understanding what truly serves you is crucial. Evaluate everything – jobs, relationships, projects, even vacations – based on the value they bring. Consider money, personal growth, career advancement, visibility, and most importantly, joy.

So, in this first month of my birth year, I’m embarking on a process of identifying my “Valuables.”
I invite you to join me on this introspective journey. Vacation offers a perfect opportunity to reflect: what do you miss about your work? What aspects would you tweak? Maybe a change is in order, but how dramatic? Don’t rush into decisions – those first few vacation days are reserved for pure relaxation, “dolce far niente” as Italians say.
